About Us

Years of Experience!

In April of 1984, Philip Reese opened the doors of Reese's Plants. We originally started in downtown Columbia, S.C., on Sunset Drive in an old fiberglass greenhouse with Spring bedding and flowering potted plants. Later, we branched into retailing indoor tropicals from Florida.  Shortly thereafter, we started renting plants for businesses, parties, weddings and many social functions, including the Columbia Music Festival Association, the South Carolina Governor's Inaugural Ball and the 1987 visit of Pope John Paul II to Columbia, just to name a few. After about 12 years of selling and renting seasonal flowers, tropical plants and some outdoor palms, we expanded our plant product line to include landscape plants and we discontinued the rental portion of our business, which someday may return.  Along with handling landscape plants and a large selection of palms, we decided to start up the wholesale side of our business by selling and direct-shipping loads of plant material to other nurseries and landscape planting sites around the South.

In August of 2006, the property on which the nursery was located had been sold to a developer and we had to move after more than 22 years in the same location. Since there was no available space for us in the Columbia area, we decided to move to Blythewood, where there was room to expand the nursery and our product line. The new location now serves us and the customer well. We have lots of room and more than 600 different varieties and sizes of indoor and outdoor plants from which to choose. We believe that once you come and visit us and see how clean and green we are, you will be very impressed.
